Determining the proper tonnage for a busbar processing machine bending station to bend a bar or a thick bar will depend on several variables. All aspects of bar bending must be considered when determining the proper tonnage for the desired bend.
To obtain the proper tonnage, several aspects need to be considered:
Type of copper and aluminum row
Thickness of copper and aluminum row
It is necessary to consider the type of material you are working with. Since most charts are based on calculations related to busbar processing machines bending copper and aluminum bars, you need to know how your material compares to the equipment tooling. For example, according to a bending chart created for copper and aluminum bars, equipment needs to bend about 30% more tonnage than the chart shows for copper bars, and a little less for aluminum. The thickness or gauge of the material is also important as this will determine the die opening required and the minimum length that can be bent over that particular die opening. The opening of the mold will also determine the inner radius of the bend.
An example of how to determine the proper tonnage required for a copper and aluminum bar (see example below).
In this case, we want to bend a 400MM long 20MM thick copper and aluminum bar. How much tonnage is needed?
Pass through the plane scale along the bending mold to reach the fixed module on the opposite side, which is the best situation for adjusting the bent copper and aluminum bars. Then directly fix the mold and check that the corresponding opening of the mold is the best mold opening for 20MM material.
In this case, our part needs at least 80 tons to bend 400MM of 20MM thick and 80 model "V" shape mold. Now turn to the middle of the "V"-shaped opening of the 80 model on the left of the chart, which can process copper and aluminum bars with a degree of 20MM.
Note that today's materials tend to vary widely in tension and yield. For this reason, and for the life of your machine, never limit yourself to the exact tonnage needed to bend the heaviest part - allow for a 20-30% cushion.
